Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan is a sports drama directed by Amit Sharma and produced by Boney Kapoor. It stars Priyamani as the female lead. The movie is scheduled for release on April 10, 2024. However, producer Boney Kapoor has arranged a special screening for Trade and Industry members which is 7 weeks before the release. Usually, it would be one or two weeks before the release of a film.

As per Bollywood Hungama report, the screening was held at Lightbox Preview Theatre in Mumbai. A movie marketing firm director Rajesh Vasani said that “To show a film 7 weeks before release, you need to have immense confidence”. He further spoke about the film with Bollywood Hungama and said “Usually, films have a build-up in the beginning. But Maidaan is an exception. From the very start, it takes off. I doubt anyone will blink their eyes in the climax. The last 20-25 minutes are zabardast!”.
Industry Insider Talks About Upcoming Film Maidaan:
Talking about the making of Maidaan, Rajesh said “The match scenes were filmed at Madh Island. The set was destroyed and dismantled thrice due to the pandemic, monsoon, cyclone, etc. But the VFX is seen to be believed. Viewers will actually feel that the match scenes have been filmed in Australia. No one will be able to guess that VFX has been used”.
He also said “India is prematurely more of cricket, but after this film, Football will take over. Ajay Devgn is sure to win the National Award. The BGM by A.R. Rahman will also sweep another National Award”.
More About Maidaan:
Maidaan is an upcoming sports drama inspired by the national football team coach Syed Abdul Rahim in the time period between 1952 and 1962. It also stars Gajraj Rao, Bhavesh Lohar, Sunny Yadav, Maxx Taylor(Australian football player) in important roles. The shoot of the film started on 19 August 2019 but was postponed due to Covid-19. Shooting ended in May 2022. Due to delayed post production works, the film got postponed multiple times and finally releasing in theatres on 10 April 2024.
