Actor Sarathkumar and Radhika were landed in an issue in 2018 as their cheque
was bounced. On Wednesday, the Chennai special court had convicted the couple
Sarathkumar and Radhika in this case. The court sentenced them to one year in
jail and the 5 crore penalty.
Sarathkumar, Radhika and Listin Stephen are partners in the 'Magic Frames
company'. This company has borrowed 1.5 crores from Radiance Media Pvt Ltd and
issued them two cheques. While Sarathkumar had taken a 50 lakh loan from them.
After a while Sarathkumar has issued a total of 5 cheques with 10 lakh each,
when these cheques were presented for withdrawal, all cheques got
bounced. Earlier, Sarathkumar and Radhika moved to the high court
challenging the criminal proceedings against them at Saidapet fast track
court.
In May 2019, Justice GK Illanthiraiyan has declined the criminal proceedings
on the actor duo and two other people. The high court also ordered the fast
track court to complete the trial within six months. But within a few times,
the case was transferred to a special court. As the result, on Wednesday 7
April 2021, the court gave the sentence to both actors and also ordered to
allow the suspension of the sentence petition moved by the actor and said the
issue will be resolved.
