S.Shankar is one of the well-known directors of the south movie industry. He has many big commercial successes in his credit. However, recently Shankar has landed in issue as the Indian 2 film production house Lyra took legal action against him as he didn't complete the film and he has already started working on another project. The case is registered and the hearing has been held at Madras high court. This issue is known to everyone now.
Meanwhile, in an official statement, the Lyca production house said about how the film budget has gone overboard and even they have revealed about the remuneration of Shankar. They said "We have planned Rs. 150 Crores as the budget for Indian 2 but it already crossed Rs. 236 Crores with only 80 per cent of the shooting completed. They further added that "Shankar is taking Rs. 40 Crores as the remuneration and Rs. 14 Crores we have paid it in advance". After hearing this the court stated that they can't withhold Shankar from moving on to another new project.
Madras High court also asked the director Shankar to give clarity on this issue and the next hearing of the case will be adjourned to 15 April 2021. On the other side, Shankar's next project is with Tollywood Star Ram Charan. Shankar is the second most paid director in the south industry after SS Rajamouli. For now, the director Shankar got a little relief from the high court.
