A few days back, Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Coolie No. 1 trailer was released. The film is a remake of Govinda's Blockbuster Coolie No 1. However, the trailer of the Varun Dhawan film got a mixed reactions from the audience but some went on to troll the makers and the film cast for duping the original stars.
During an interview with a leading daily Midday, actress Sara Ali Khan defends the problematic plot of original film Coolie No.1 in which Govinda’s character cons Karisma’s character into falling for her. So defending this Sara Ali Khan said “if one views everything through a politically correct lens, ‘any scope of humour in our lives will be lost.
Meanwhile, in another portion of her interview she urged fans to watch the coolie No1 with honest intentions. She added “I’d urge people to watch the film with the honest intention with which it is told. There is a difference between what you say on Twitter, and what an entertaining comedy tries to say. If everybody [expects] everything to be politically correct, any scope of humour in our lives will be [lost]. Of course, you can’t be demeaning. Govinda sir duping Karisma to make her believe that he is not a coolie, is funny. It’s not about him cheating. Ultimately, he falls in love with her, and that’s what most of us look forward to in life”. Sara continues speaking about her comic timings and how the co-star Varun Dhawan helped her to improve the comic timing. She said “I am not as spontaneous as my dad or my mother. It’s all about reacting to what the other person says. It’s a difficult genre to crack. Varun helped me improve my comic timing. He is much more experienced in this genre”, she concluded her interview.
Coolie No.1 film is helmed by David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan, Paresh Rawal and Sara Ali Khan playing the lead roles. The film will be released on the Amazon Prime Video on 25 December 2020. Recently the lead actor Varun Dhawan tested positive for Covid 19 on the sets of his upcoming project Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Due to this incident makers held the shooting for now.
